I HAVE BEEN DIRECTED TO WRITE A CHECK FOR $60,000 TO THE OWNER AND THIS CHECK SHOULD BE DONE THROUGH PAYROLL WITH "NO DEDUCTIONS" I AM UNSURE HOW TO DO THIS AS I TRIED TO AND GOT NERVOUS. THIS AMOUNT ALSO NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE UPCOMING PAYROLL REMITTANCE NOW DUE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS

Recording bonuses can sometimes be challenging, Ctouchie. Let me share some additional details to help clarify the process.

Bonuses are considered taxable income. Since the owner's bonus is paid without tax deductions, it cannot be processed through the payroll system. Instead, it can be issued as a reimbursement outside of payroll, either recorded as an expense or a bill payment. Keep in mind that any payment classified as non-taxable must align with the criteria set by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Given the complexity of this matter, I recommend seeking guidance from an accountant. Their expertise will help ensure the payment is handled correctly and complies with all applicable tax regulations.
