I use quickbooks 2021 desktop and when I open the program I am getting a communication error message. It pops up and asks me to fill a report. I have the option to send or not send the report. I have done both (send and not send) the message still pops up when I either open the program, and also when I switch to a previous company.. (I have two company books).  Why is this happening.

Hello, Sharon.

Before anything else, could you please provide the specific error message you encountered? Sharing this information, along with a screenshot, will help us pinpoint the cause of the issue and offer the right solution.

To fix this, let’s try opening a sample file to determine if the problem is related to your company file or QuickBooks itself.

Here's how:

  1. Press and hold the Ctrl key.
  2. Double-click on your QuickBooks Desktop icon.
  3. Keep holding the Ctrl key until the No Company Open window appears.
  4. In the No Company Open window, choose the option to Open a sample file.
  5. Select any sample file from the available list.

If the sample file opens without errors, it indicates that your company file or its folder may be damaged. To restore your file, you can use a recent backup, Auto Data Recovery (ADR), or perform basic data damage troubleshooting.

If the error persists, let’s check if the folder containing your company file is damaged. To do this, move your file to a new folder.

Here's how:

  1. Right-click on your desktop, select New, and then choose Folder.
  2. Name the folder QBTEST.
  3. Go to the folder where your company file is stored.
  4. Right-click the company file and select Copy.
  5. Paste the file into the QBTEST folder.
  6. Open the company file from the QBTEST folder.

If the error does not appear, the original folder may be damaged, or its file path may be too long. Create a new permanent folder for your company file to resolve the issue.

If the error still continues, I recommend moving on to Solution 6 in this article: Troubleshoot Unrecoverable Error XXXXX XXXXX.

Feel free to let us know if you need further assistance. We're here to help.

I did as you suggested, open the No Company File Icon and the message (see attached image below), and I created the QBTEST folder and copied the company file to it, and it still open with the same message. Error code # 24543 80000. I have backed up my two company files. Is there anyway you can contact me to talk me through the process of resetting the company files?

Your QB program is outdated and I am not sure Intuit Support is willing to provide any help. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA directly via email and they can offer more advice including a remote service assistance.

@sharonschaler

Can you open the sample file without any issue?

No, the sample file had the same message.
