Ridiculous 49% subscription price increase for Desktop 2025

Brickbat... So I just got the annual May price increase email from Intuit for our subscription to QB Desktop. This time the monthly fee is jumping from $47 + tax to $70+ tax; a 49% increase (+tax increase).

What kind of legitimate, well run business just dumps that kind of price increase on their customers? Ripoff...

I have been a QB user since 2006 and have seen all kinds of price changes, and structure changes,  and other fee raising models, but this one is almost as bad as the ridiculous switch to charging a per/employee fee to the payroll module (on top of its subscription fee).

I will never, ever recommend QB to any of my small biz colleagues, clients, or to any of our local chamber of commerce group members because of the way the pricing is managed and communicated.

I work in IT, this is why we advise our clients NOT to go with a subscription instead of perpetual license for anything that they buy, this is how they get you, it starts with a promotional low cost sub, once they have you they can jack up the price as much as they want because you need to use the product.

Hello there, Marilyn. I understand your frustration with the $200 price tag for the 2024 version, especially since you only need a single license and don't utilize the payroll features.

To get a non-subscription copy of QuickBooks Desktop, you’ll have to purchase a 2021 version or older through a third-party or an authorized reseller. Since QuickBooks Desktop has officially transitioned to a subscription-only model for all versions released in 2022 and later. There is no longer a one-time purchase or non-subscription version of the 2024 subscription.

We’re always here to help you if you have any other concerns.

I have the same issue.  Did you move to another product?  I have been looking for an alternate product too.

@kelper62

What version do you have? Pro Plus or else? How many user license?

I have the Desktop Enterprise: Contractor 24.0.  Out of no where QB started charging an additional monthly fee just to process payroll.  It is like $3 per employee.  No warning...just bam...here's an additional monthly fee.

Also there is only 1 user on our license.  My monthly fee jumped from $189 per month to $226 per month.

I am looking for alternative options.  I contract Oracle, but it is designed for large companies.

Let me know if you find an good option.
