When entering a new journal entry, the journal number automatically fills in with a number. How do I stop this from occurring?

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), Journal Entry numbers automatically assign sequential numbers. Unfortunately, there is no option available to disable this.

You can manually edit the journal number before saving your entry. Just click on the journal number field and modify it as needed before saving the journal entry. If you prefer to use your own numbering system, you will need to edit each journal number individually as you enter it.
