Why is there a Memo column on customer list of transactions instead of Description

In the Customer transaction list, why is there a column for "memo" but nowhere to insert a memo on invoices? It would be helpful to have a column for "description". My invoices have a field for "description" which indicates what the invoice is for. There is no way to add a field for "memo" on custom invoices, and I wouldn't want this anyway.  Why would I want the extra step when there is already a description on the invoice for what the customer is being charged for.

In the Customer's account, it shows the list of transactions which includes invoices and payments.  I am looking for a specific invoice so if there was a column for description I could just scroll down until I find the one with the service I am looking for.  Instead,  I am opening every invoice to find the one I am looking for and it is such a waste of time.

The new Quickbooks is really very useless.  Like, if I cannot easily find an invoice within a minute, why am I even using this software?

Hello Lauram5, since a single transaction can have multiple line items with multiple descriptions, QuickBooks Online displays the memo field there instead, as it represents the transaction as a whole.

This view pulls information from the transaction-level memo field, which is the note located at the bottom of an invoice, rather than the line-item description.

After adding the invoice indication to the memo field, your Customer Transaction list now appears as follows.

There is no "memo" filed on the invoice.  On the invoice, there is a "Message on Invoice" field where I put a summary of all the individual line items.  If this field had a column in the customer transaction list, that would solve this problem.

You have advised that the "memo" field is what appears in the column, but there is no "memo" field on invoices in my version of Quickbooks online.

Also, I cannot reply using the link in the email reply I received from you, as I get "Authentication Failed".  I have to use an incognito window to do this, which meant copying and pasting the link, again wasting more of my time.

I also cannot add attachments to this, even though I am signed in.

Hello, @lauram5. Thanks to replying to this thread. Regardless of the layout you are using, whether it is the old or the new layout. "Message on Statement" or "Memo on statement" field performs the same functions.

You can still include a summary for each item.

Can you provide details if you received an error message when attempting to reply using the link in the email?
