Duplicate entries in bank register when writing a check

So I write a check to pay a bill and it shows in the Register. Then when it's cashed, QBO pulls it in from the bank and it's added to the Register again creating a duplicate entry. What am I doing wrong?

Assuming there's no bug in QB Online (which is a stretch) this likely means that the check you wrote is too different from the check that cleared for QB to auto-match them.  In that case you have to force a match as you accept transactions. Or, if you've already recorded a downloaded duplicate check, delete it.
