Quickbooks Desktop will not let me enter a new credit card number in the "Manage Your Quickbooks Account" tap under the help tab. The customer service gibberish-speaker wants me to give her my new cards info. The reason I have a new card is the the old number was stolen. I do not want to give some rando my new card number,

The reason you can't update credit card information for a QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) subscription via the Help menu is that billing is managed securely through the Customer Account Maintenance Portal (CAMPs), not the general help section.

Here are the steps in signing in to CAMPs and updating your credit card payment method:

  1. Go to camps.intuit.com.
  2. Sign in with your Intuit Account user ID and password.
  3. If you see multiple accounts upon signing in, select the one you want to open.

From the Payment Method section, find the card or account you want to update. Click Edit, then enter your updated payment information. Once done, select Save and Close.

It's great that you didn't provide your credit card information to the customer service representative you spoke with. Your caution is completely justified, and it's best practice to update your payment method securely through CAMPs.

D*mn, you know more than the half-wits they let call themselves "customer service"! I was on the phone with 3 of them and they all swore up and down it was a glitch and I HAD TO give them my info. Thanks so much!

Can you sign up for CAMPS as a Primary Contact?

You can also consider renewing your subscription license through a reseller. You don't need to use your credit card and can pay later. You can also get $200 cashback to reduce your costs when paying with a US business credit card or ACH.
