Question

How do i get my free credit card reader? I signed up for quickbooks cash but now they're asking for a credit card.

After i signed up it specifically said "order your free card reader".

You can get your card reader by ordering through the GoPayment app, @kennycrowder-hot. Let me share further details about this.

 

When you have QuickBooks Payments, you can take payments on the go. A mobile card reader will let you swipe, dip, or tap credit cards with the GoPayment app.

 

Once you qualify for a free card reader, you'll receive an email containing a link. You can order through it or with the GoPayment app (green or blue) using your business' physical mailing address.

 

If you have the green GoPayment app, here's how:

 

  1. On the GoPayment app home screen, select the More ☰ icon.
  2. Select Hardware.
  3. Choose Order card reader.
  4. Select the card reader you want to order.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps to complete your order.

 

If you have the blue GoPayment app, here's how:

 

  1. On the GoPayment app home screen, select the Menu ☰ icon.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Choose Order card reader.
  4. Select Add to Order for the reader you want to order.
  5. Select the number of readers you need and then Check Out.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to complete your order.

 

Then, you can order from the Merchant Service Center additional readers or replacements. You can learn more about this by visiting this article: Order a card reader for QuickBooks GoPayment.

I have a white card reader that is a couple of years old.   Does it still work?

Thank you for posting here in QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing some details to ensure you're able to confirm if your card reader is still working. 

 

Since your white card reader is a couple of years old already, we can confirm if this still works by signing in to GoPayment or your QuickBooks Online mobile app as an admin. Then, I suggest disconnecting and reconnecting the card reader. Please follow the steps below depends on the GoPayment or app you're using.

 

Green GoPayment:

  1. Choose Settings from the menu.
  2. Select Card Readers. Then, choose the card reader to disconnect.
  3. From the Reader Actions drop-down, select Forget Reader.
  4. Reconnect the reader.

Blue GoPayment:

  1. Choose More and select Hardware.
  2. Click Card Readers. Then, choose the card reader you want to disconnect.
  3. From the Readers Actions drop-down, select Forget Reader.
  4. Reconnect the reader.

 

If still doesn't work, you'll have to make sure that the Bluetooth is on. Bluetooth card readers only connect to Bluetooth-compatible devices.

Additionally, you can always have the option to order a card reader through the GoPayment app and online. This is to make sure that you have the updated one.
