Question

Invoice payment alerts and emails not working anymore in QuickBooks Essentials Online

Hello.  I have been a QuickBooks Online Essentials customer for a number of years.  Prior to February 2026 I was getting both emails and phone notifications (alerts) when my customers paid their invoices.  After February it all stopped.  I’ve tried a number of times to call your support line but can’t seem to speak to a human being.  Your “chat-bot” support gives me the runaround every time with no responses even close to what my issue is in support.  In my Merchant Center under Account and then Settings and Alerts, all I see is a form with a dropdown that has nothing to do with ALERTS or Alert setup, which is frustrating.  Yes, my Company Profile is correct.  Yes, my Email is correct and I receive other Intuit emails (mostly from Marketing) and I cannot find any other way to re-activate the emails and alerts I used to get.

Any help?

And to add to my above message, what I am getting now (hadn’t before) is phone alerts only when my customers “VIEW” their newly sent invoices.  That has no value to me.  I don’t care how many times they view their invoice, I just care when they PAY their invoices.  I’m sorry if I sound a little irate, but for a long as I’ve been a QuickBooks customer, 1) I would expect a little more efficient support and styles; and 2) it would be nice if the steps you describe in your support notes were actually factual within the app (more intuitive & friendly UI).  I speak from 38 years of experience in the IT industry - Business Analyst, M&A Project Lead, Design Innovation & Application Development Lead, Systems Integration, etc., etc.

Marketing emails continue to be delivered as usual because they originate from entirely different mailing servers and distribution lists than transactional payment notifications. Since this issue is specific to payments, let's review it in your QuickBooks Merchant account.

First, check your Spam or Junk folders. If you find the email in one of these folders, move it directly to your Inbox.

Next, ensure your email provider recognizes Intuit as a trusted source, and add the official service email addresses to your contacts or safe sender list.

Then, send an email to any of the email addresses listed to help your internet service or domain provider recognize it as a friendly contact.

Additionally, if you want to reach out to our Live Support team, you can navigate to the Help menu. From there, you'll find our contact options, including our support hours.
