Question

I'm trying to authenticate with quickbooks in a third party application but after logging in Quickbooks is asking me to "Setup Payments".

I'm using the OAuth2 flow to login into a third party app. However after logging in (and still on the QBO authentication screen) I cannot continue if I don't setup "Payments". This screen is still on QBO for the avoidance of doubt, not from the third party application

Thanks for reaching out to us, @simon-qbo-pomelo.

I want to make sure you're able to authenticate QuickBooks with your third-party application. However, I need some more information about the problem.

When you get the option to setup payments, do you see any options to skip or close the window anywhere on the page? Also, may I know the name of the third-party application you're using? Any details or screenshot will help us diagnose the problem.

I'll wait for your response here in this thread. Mention me so I'd get notified of your reply. All the best.

Hi Jen, thanks for picking this up.

- We can click No Thanks but this redirects back to the third party with access denied from QBO

- We've triple confirmed the application is not asking for any of the payments scope, the 3rd party app is not configured for payments scope either

- The app is our own (Pomelo), it's fully approved by QB based on the review form and questionnaire.

- Attached is a screenshot of what shows, we can't continue and there's no company to select.

The reason you're seeing this error right after logging in is that the connection itself is working, but a final requirement is blocking it.

When you connect apps like Amazon Quick to QuickBooks Online, the setup steps depend on what data the app needs to sync. Since Amazon Quick handles sales and transactional data, QuickBooks requires you to have an active QuickBooks Payments account to finish the setup.

If you don't want to set up payments in QuickBooks, your best bet is to reach out to Amazon support. You can ask them if they have an alternative setting or a data-only option that lets you sync your data without triggering that QuickBooks payment requirement.

Let me know if you need anything else. I'm always here to help. Have a great day!
