QuickBooks 2FA/SMS verification code not arriving: carrier-specific fixes (UK and international)

If you're not receiving your QuickBooks verification code by text or call, this is usually a delivery issue between your mobile carrier and our messaging provider, not a problem with your account. Try the fixes below in order; most people are unblocked by step 2 or 3.
Why this happens
Two-factor authentication (2FA) codes are sent via SMS and voice call through third-party carrier networks. Occasionally a carrier's network filtering or routing blocks or delays these automated messages. This is a known, carrier-side delivery issue our technical teams actively monitor and work with carriers to resolve.
Step-by-step fixes:
1. Try the "call me" option instead of text
On the verification screen, select the option to receive your code via phone call rather than SMS. Carrier filtering often affects SMS more than voice.
2. Toggle Airplane Mode
This is the fix that resolves it for most affected Vodafone/Three customers:
- Turn Airplane Mode ON for a few seconds
- Turn it back OFF
- Request a new code (text or call)
This forces your phone to reconnect to the network and often clears whatever was blocking delivery.
Note: If you're mid-call when doing this, the call will drop — simply request a new code once your phone reconnects.
3. Try a different network path
- Switch off Wi-Fi calling if enabled, and try again on standard mobile signal
- If you have access to a second SIM, device, or Wi-Fi-only login attempt, try requesting the code from that connection
- Try again after moving to an area with stronger signal
4. Check the basics
- Confirm the mobile number on your account is correct and up to date
- Make sure your phone isn't set to block unknown or international senders
- Wait a couple of minutes between requests — repeated rapid requests can trigger rate-limiting
Still stuck? Contact support
If none of the above resolves it, contact QuickBooks support so we can verify your identity through an alternative method and get you logged in. Let the team know which carrier you're on (e.g. Vodafone, Three) as this helps us track where the delivery issue is occurring.
