Can I add two alternative part numbers for each product in Quickbooks online ?

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you're only able to add one SKU when adding an inventory item. This is to secure an accurate information when tracking your inventories.

This is taking me closer to home :
I have a question, the company i work for sales cellphones and we receive these in batches of like 5000 per type of device. 
 
These phones have different serial numbers that we would like to use for tracking them in our inventory, my problem is when trying to upload a file from excel it rejects the other lines, with an error message that the product already exists.
 
Its the same product but just different identification numbers , how do i cross this bridge?

You got me here to help you get this sorted out, Denford.

 

I've got an option you may wish to consider to get rid of the error message. You'll want to add an indication so QuickBooks will think that they are different entries/products. Please see screenshot below:

 

Once done, try uploading a file to Excel again to see if it works. Otherwise, you may contact our Customer Care Support to further assist you with this. They have available resources that can do a screen-share with you to better assist you. You can contact them through this link: Contact the QuickBooks Online Customer Support team

Yes, with a work around

 

You do have to stock just the main inventory item as intuit stated, but

you can create a bundle item, name it as the alternate name, list the main item in the bundle, and set the bundle to not print the item(s).  Use that item for sales under that name

    Can I do that with many items at the same time when I import my products list by excel ?

    As of now, we're unable to import bundle item from Excel to QBO. You'll want to create a bundle item inside your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. Let me show you how.

     

    Go to the Gear icon.

    1. Select Product and Services.
    2. Click New, select Bundle.
    3. Add the items under the PRODUCT/SERVICE column.
    4. Fill in the details and click Save and close once done.
