Question

Company associated with the incorrect QuickBooks account

I created a new company and somehow it is associated with an old QuickBooks Desktop account that I have Instead of the current account that I use. How would I transfer ownership of that company from my old QuickBooks account to my new QuickBooks account?

Does the system ask you to sign in to an Intuit account? What QB Desktop year version?

To transfer your company file access from your old Intuit account to a new one in QuickBooks Desktop, you need to assign the Primary Admin (Intuit Account Admin) role to your new account.

Here’s how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Desktop as the current Primary Admin.
  2. Go to Company > Users > Intuit Account User Management.
  3. Select Add User, enter your new account email, and assign the Admin role.
  4. Open your email and accept the invitation from Intuit.
  5. Return to Intuit Account User Management.
  6. Select your old admin account, then click Change Primary Admin.
  7. Choose your new email and confirm the transfer.
  8. Enter the verification code sent to your new email to complete the process.

Once completed, your company file stays intact, and Primary Admin rights will be assigned to your new Intuit account.
