The registered account manager passed away and we can’t figure out his login. How do we get the entire account deleted and canceled?

We are very sorry for your loss and offer our condolences. We are here to help you resolve this concern securely.

Because the current Primary Administrator has passed away, you need to submit an official ownership change request to our Account Protection Team. Once Intuit transfers the Primary Admin role to you, you can log in and cancel the subscription.

To prove your authority, Intuit requires specific documentation before changing account ownership:

  • A government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport) for yourself.
  • A notarized document or official legal proof naming you as the executor or personal representative of the deceased manager's estate.

Read this article: Request to be the primary admin or contact to access the secure submission portal. Upload your identification and estate or business documents when prompted. Intuit’s verification team will review your submission, usually Monday through Friday.

After Intuit confirms you as the new Primary Admin, follow these steps to cancel the subscription:

  1. Log in to the account.
  2. Click the Gear icon.
  3. Select Subscriptions and billing.
  4. Locate your QuickBooks Online plan and click Cancel subscription.
  5. Follow the brief exit prompts to confirm.

To delete the account, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to accounts.intuit.com.
  2. Click Data & privacy.
  3. Choose Delete.
  4. Select Make a delete request and follow the prompts to choose the account and product data you want to delete.

Note: QuickBooks retains read-only data for one year post-cancellation before permanent deletion.
