Let’s work together to fix the incorrect information in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account so you can start over, michelle220.

There are several available methods to remove incorrect information from your QBO company. First, you can remove incorrect customer data by marking the records as inactive. This hides the data while retaining it for reference. After making them inactive, re-import the corrected information. Check out the image below for visual reference.

The second option is to use a third-party application to remove the incorrectly uploaded customer information. You can visit the QuickBooks App Store to explore available options.

Lastly, if you prefer to reset your QBO company data entirely, the approach depends on the age of your account and your subscription level. If your QBO company file is older than 90 days or if you’re using the Simple Start subscription, you’ll need to cancel your current company and create a new one to start fresh. For more details, see this resource guide: Delete Your Data and Start Over

However, if your account is less than 90 days old and you’re subscribed to QBO Essentials, Plus, or Advanced, you have the option to purge your company data. Before proceeding, ensure you review and meet all requirements for purging. Once ready, follow the steps to purge your company data and begin with clean records:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account as an admin and ensure you’re in the company you want to purge.
  2. Open this link in your web browser: https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany.
  3. Type YES in the text field to confirm data deletion and hit OK.
  4. Select Create accounts based on my industry to have QuickBooks help set up your chart of accounts after the purge. Don't choose Create an empty chart of accounts unless advised by your accountant.
  5. Click Wipe Data to complete the purge.

After the process is complete, you can start setting up your company file from scratch.

As always, the Community and I will be ready to assist you with any QuickBooks-related concerns.
