Hi there, @sanctuaryc-fisca! While this thread has been around for a while, I wanted to jump in with an exciting update for anyone still looking for a no-cost way to manage their finances.

Since this question was first asked, we’ve introduced QuickBooks Free. It’s a great option if you’ve been searching for a simple way to get organized without a monthly subscription. This version is built to help you:

  • Send professional invoices and give your customers flexible ways to pay, so you can get paid faster.
  • Automatically sort your business and personal transactions to ensure your books stay accurate from day one.
  • Run profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and account summaries to always know exactly where your cash flow stands.

You can take a look at the full details here to see if it’s the right fit for your current business needs: QuickBooks Free

I’m glad we can finally provide a direct "yes" to this long-standing question. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

Of course not.  Intuit/ QB is FAR too greedy for that.

(Someone will be along shortly to comment about there being a free version.  What they are telling you is to utilize the free TRIAL of the product, after which, you will have to subscribe)

Hi there, sanctuaryc-fisca.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be providing some details about subscribing to QuickBooks Online and the details about the free version that you can use.

Yes, there's a free QuickBooks account that you can test out. I suggest utilizing our QuickBooks Online trial version which is good for 30 days. If you wish to continue using it, you can subscribe anytime. Just enter a valid credit card for authorization to achieve that. Then, you'll be charged the current fee for the services you've selected.

You can always check your Account and Settings section on how many days you have left until the trial expires to ensure your account stays active.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear ⚙ icon at the upper right corner and choose Account and Settings.
  2. Go to the Billing & Subscription tab.
  3. You'll see when your Trial ends (for example my Trial Ends in 18 days).

Then, to subscribe to the program, you'll just have to click the Subscribe button. Enter your credit card information and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. We can also click the Subscribe now link at the top of your Home page.

Additionally, you can use a test drive of QuickBooks Online by using our sample company demo so that you can explore features and the options that you're not comfortable trying in a live QuickBooks account. Feel free to experiment with the test drive since the demo system doesn't save any of the changes you make. Please open this link for the test drive:  https://qbo.intuit.com/redir/testdrive.

I'm also adding this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBO: Help guide for QuickBooks Online. It contains topics about advanced accounting, banking, and payments to name a few.

Let me know if there's anything else you need help with about QuickBooks. Know that I'm always here to help you anytime. Take care and keep safe!

So. To Re-iterate. " Of course not.  Intuit/ QB is FAR too greedy for that.   "

@sanctuaryc-fisca

I could say QB Online Accountant version is a free version of QB Online. Explore it if you don't mind to utilize it for your company.
