Product Change and User ID woes

I began using Quickbooks with the QB Self Employed product, and used it for years until it was discontinued for Solopreneur. Instead of switching to that, I was advised to switch to QBO Simple Start, so I did. I found this difficult to use, so I cancelled my subscription after a few months of not being able to figure it out.

Last week I decided to try Solopreneur, but subscribed to it under the wrong user ID. I then cancelled that subscription to try and re-subscribe under the correct user ID, but was shown two different error messages both times I tried this:

The first error message said that I cannot subscribe to Solopreneur based on my subscription settings. I have no active subscriptions, so this is confusing.

The second error message said that my business already has a Solopreneur account. Again, I cancelled that subscription so that I could re-subscribe under the correct User ID.

I'm at a loss as to where to go from here. Live chat is apparently sales-based, as they wanted to start a totally fresh account for me, and I apparently don't have access to support channels since I don't have an active subscription. Am I going to have to start completely fresh with my business? I'd hate to lose all of my business data and reporting.

This seems like it should be easier to fix. Help? Guidance? Please? Thanks in advance.

Hello nncortijo,

The errors you’re experiencing occur because QuickBooks retains subscription data tied to user IDs and business profiles, even after cancellations, which restricts the ability to resubscribe under a different user ID. Additionally, without an active subscription, access to support becomes limited, and those error messages will persist until addressed. To resolve this, here’s what you need to do to set up Solopreneur:

  1. Go to QuickBooks Solopreneur Plans and Pricing.
  2. Click Buy now under QuickBooks Solopreneur.
  3. Below the Create an Intuit Account, click the Already have an account? Sign in to log in.
  4.  Enter your account details and then sign in.
  5. Select Create a new company, which will guide you to input your billing information to start fresh.

And yes, you will need to start completely fresh because, unfortunately, downgrading from QBO to Solopreneur isn’t possible, and your business data cannot transfer directly. Creating a new account is the way forward to ensure proper use of Solopreneur.
