shows client as payee instead of me

I did everything right, yet the account register shows each client as a payee. I spent two hours with tech support today on another issue, and would love to find a quicker answer to this.

Hi @CFCN1,

Welcome to the Community. I can provide clarification about the account register in QuickBooks Online.

Your bank register in the chart of accounts contains your income and expense transactions. Since there's no specific field for customers/clients, QuickBooks will be showing the client names in the Payee column.

Right now, the option to show yourself or the business name is unavailable. The system is designed to show the details for both payees and clients in the same column.

You can utilize running a report to avoid confusion. I recommend running the Transaction Detail by Account report.

Instead of the Payee column, the report will show the details through the Name column. Also, you have the option to add the Vendor column if needed (see screenshot below).

Another workaround would be to export your bank account data to Excel. From there, you can change the client information to your name.

You can click the Export icon to create an Excel file. Check out the additional screenshot below:

Here's an article you can use as a reference in personalizing reports, like adjusting columns, rows, or displays in QuickBooks: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Fill me in if you have additional questions about the features when navigating QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Wishing you all the best.
