We appreciate you for reaching us here. No worries, I'll provide assistance to help you make changes to an entry in an open book in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You will typically prompt to enter a password when attempting to modify a closed book. Once a book is closed, any transaction occurred before that date will require a password to be accessed. In your case, I suggest checking the closing date in your close books menu and see if it is changed. Here's how:
In Settings, go to Accounts and Settings.
Select the Advanced tab.
Choose Edit ✎ in the Accounting section.
In Close the books menu, check if the closing date was change. If yes, please change it to a future date that you want.
Hit Save, then click Done on the lower right of your screen.
However, if the closing date is not changed, I recommend accessing QBO in a private or incognito browsing mode. Sometimes, the browser's cache can become filled and cause issues when working your QBO account.

When you reverse an entry recorded to a period where books are open, there shouldn't be a prompt asking for a password. It only happens when you already closed your books.
I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team so they can investigate this. Here's how:
Log in to your QuickBooks (QBO) account.
Click the Help button at the top right corner.
Go to the Search tab, then select Contact Us.
Enter a brief discussion of your concern, then click Continue.
Choose to Have us call you to connect with us.
Our customer support schedule for Plus, Essentials, and Simple Start users is from Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM PT, and Saturdays from 6 AM to 3 PM PT. If you are using the Advanced version, assistance is accessible 24/7.
