Question

Have they gotten rid of the ability to upload a receipt directly to a transaction in the "Bank Transactions" tab. I can't see the ability to do it anymore.

There seems to be no option to just directly upload an invoice within the bank transaction screen anymore. This was really useful. Whilst I know I could role back to the old version that would only be a temporary fix until it disappears.

The option to upload receipts directly is still available in the new version of QuickBooks Online, PastProductionsEducationLTD.

Please note a dedicated tab has been added specifically for the Receipts function. This change is why you can no longer find the same option in the Bank Transactions tab.

Follow these updated steps on how you can do it:

  1. Click My apps in the left-hand corner.
  2. Choose Transactions under the Accounting menu.
  3. Proceed to the Receipts tab.
  4. Click Upload receipts, then choose Upload receipts.
  5. Choose Select files, then follow the succeeding prompts on how to upload receipts.

Here's an article that provides more details about this feature: Upload your receipts and bills to QuickBooks Online.

Aside from that, you can also email receipts to QBO so you no longer need to manually upload them. Here's an article as a guide: Email receipts and bills to QuickBooks Online.

After uploading them successfully, use this article as a guide on how to approve or assign categories to the receipts: Categorise online bank transactions in QuickBooks.
