I am new to quickbooks and transfer money to savings for taxes, however every payment ive put under the wrong category and id like to restart all transactions as going back and undoing all of them would take a long time

The fastest way to fix incorrectly categorized transactions is either by undoing them in bulk (if they are already categorized) or by letting QuickBooks automatically categorize them for you.

If you have already accepted these transactions into QuickBooks, you can move them back to the Pending tab all at once.

Here's how:

  1. In your bank transactions, go to the Posted tab.
  2. Mark the box as checked beside Date to select all the posted transactions.
  3. Once checked, click Undo.

This removes them from your accounting history and puts them back into your Pending tab.

However, if you haven't posted your transactions yet and they are still in the Pending tab, you can create a bank rule to automatically assign them to your desired category instead of fixing them one by one.

Here's how:

  1. On the gear icon, click Rules. Then, click New Rule.
  2. You can name the rule whatever you prefer.
  3. Set the rule to Money in under "Apply this to transactions that are."
  4. Select the Bank account you want to apply this rule to.
  5. Under conditions, set it to Description, then Contains. Enter the text that appears in your transactions.
  6. On the Create rule page, change the category to the correct account you want to use.
  7. Click Save.

After the rule is created, go back to your Pending tab. You'll see that QuickBooks has applied your new rule to every transaction, changing them to the correct category.
