How do I set up a suspense account for an unknown income until corrected by the bank?

You can set up an account in QuickBooks to track the money you've received from an unknown source and categorize it. All you need to do is follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings ⚙ and click Chart of accounts.
2. Select New, then enter an Account name for the suspense account.
3. Choose an Account type, then select the Detail type from the drop-down list.
4. Add a Description to add extra information about this account.
5. Click Save.

After creating a suspense account, you can now categorise the unknown income in the For review tab. Once the source is verified by your bank and you need to return the money, you can create an expense transaction to track it.

When you have your bank statement in hand, you can start reconciling your accounts to ensure they match your bank and credit card statements.
