Question

Has anyone found a resolution to the CitiBusiness Online connection not working with QB?

I have an error stating CitiBusiness Online has made a change but have tried calling both them and Intuit and both say its something on the other end and no one is taking ownership.  Anyone else having this issue or found a resolution?  When I try and relink the account they are no longer showing as an available bank.  Thanks

Two different things tend to cause this, so it helps to separate them. First, CitiBusiness Online connects through a different listing and login than personal Citibank, so if you're only seeing the standard "Citibank" option, that's the wrong one. Second, Citi periodically changes how its accounts connect, which can temporarily remove the CitiBusiness listing for everyone, this is what happened in the outage that started around late July 2024, and it was later restored.

Connect to the correct CitiBusiness listing

CitiBusiness Online is a separate connection from personal Citi. When you link it, you'll be asked for a Business Code, User ID, and Password, the same credentials you use at the CitiBusiness site (businessaccess.citibank.citigroup.com), not the personal citibank.com login.

  1. Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions, and select Link account.
  2. Search CitiBusiness and match the listing to your CitiBusiness login URL. QuickBooks maintains a table of the correct Citi listings to pick in its official "Problems connecting my CitiBank account" article, use that to choose the exact one.
  3. Select the listing, sign in with your Business Code, User ID, and Password, and finish connecting.

On the Business Code: it's part of your CitiBusiness Online profile. If you don't know it, your account's CitiBusiness System Administrator (or Citi directly) can provide it, it isn't the same as your personal Citi login.

If CitiBusiness is missing from the list or says "can't connect to this provider"

That message usually means a temporary bank-side or connection outage rather than something wrong with your file. When that's happening:

  • Don't disconnect the account. If you disconnect while the listing is unavailable, you may not be able to re-add it until the issue clears, several users in this thread got stuck exactly this way.
  • Try reconnecting or updating from an incognito or private window, which resolved it for users once the connection was restored.
  • Contact QuickBooks Support and ask to be added to the active investigation for CitiBusiness connectivity so you're notified when it's fixed.
  • Manually import your transactions with a CSV or QBO file from CitiBusiness Online in the meantime so nothing falls behind.

The specific 2024 outage was resolved after Intuit and Citi addressed the change on their end, and users were able to reconnect. If CitiBusiness is missing for you now, it's worth confirming with Support whether there's a current investigation, since Citi connections have changed more than once.
