How do I fix bank connection errors 102 and 324 in QuickBooks Online?
error 102
error 102
Both errors point to a bank connection problem in QuickBooks Online, and each one has a different cause. Error 102 means QuickBooks can't reach your bank right now. Error 324 means QuickBooks can connect to your bank but can't find the specific account. This is usually because something changed on the bank's side. Here's how to fix both.
Error 102 (and the related error 105) appears when QuickBooks can't connect to your bank. This is often temporary and may resolve on its own within 24 hours as your bank works through any issues on their end.
Step 1: Refresh the bank connection.
If the error is still there after 2 to 3 hours, move to Step 2.
Step 2: Check your bank's website.
Step 3: Try an incognito or private browser window. Open QuickBooks in your browser's private mode and try updating again. Cached data can sometimes interfere with the connection.
If none of these steps resolve the error, reach out to your bank directly to check their system status, or contact QuickBooks support for further help.
Error 324 means QuickBooks can't locate a specific bank account. Your bank connection is still active, but transactions have stopped downloading for that account. The most common causes are a changed account number, a closed account, or a reconnection made with the wrong credentials or account selection. Find the scenario that matches your situation below.
When your bank issues a new account number or replacement card, QuickBooks loses track of the original account.
Note: You don't need to disconnect the account first. QuickBooks remaps the updated details and keeps your transaction history and categorization rules intact.
If Fix now doesn't show your updated account, disconnect the account from Bank transactions, then select Add Account to reconnect from scratch. When reconnecting, map the account to your existing QuickBooks account rather than creating a new one to avoid duplicates.
A closed account can't be reconnected. You'll need to disconnect it and add a new account.
If someone reconnected the bank using different login credentials (for example, a second user's login), QuickBooks can't match the original accounts and triggers Error 324.
When your bank asks which accounts to share during a reconnection, selecting different accounts from your original choice removes authorization for the ones left out.
Each time you reauthorize the bank connection for one QuickBooks company, it can overwrite the account selection for your other companies, which causes Error 324 to bounce between them.
Two habits prevent the most common causes of this error:
If you're still seeing an error after trying these steps, it helps to have this info ready when you reach out to QuickBooks support: the name of your bank and account type, whether you use multiple QuickBooks companies with the same bank login, any recent changes at your bank (new card, renamed account, credential change), and whether more than one person manages your bank connections.
