Bank rules can automatically add transactions for you. You just need to turn on the auto-post option for that specific rule. Without it, the rule will still categorize a matching transaction, but it stays in the Pending tab until you confirm it yourself.
Here's how to turn it on:
- Go to Accounting, then Rules.
- Find the rule you want to update and select Edit.
- Turn on Auto-post under "Automatically confirm transactions this rule applies to."
- Select Save.
Once that's on, any transaction in your Pending tab that matches the rule's conditions gets added automatically, no review needed. Auto-post rules run when you sign in, upload a file, or create or modify an auto-post rule, so it's not scanning your account continuously in real time.
Since auto-post skips your review step entirely, it's worth being a bit selective about which rules you turn it on for. Start with transactions that are always the same, like rent or a recurring software subscription, then expand to others once you've seen it work reliably for a while.
