You can retrieve your bank statements directly from your bank's online portal. Many banks allow you to download historical statements covering several years.

Once done, you can manually import your bank statements in a CSV format into QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) for your tax filing.

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Import transactions.
  2. Click the import transactions hyperlink.
  3. Follow the onscreen steps to upload the CSV file.
  4. Select Import.

When you import a CSV file, these transactions will land in your account as Unreviewed. You must first navigate to the Transactions tab and manually categorize each transaction as business income or expenses. If you skip this step, your tax tools won't have any data to read.

After successfully importing and categorizing your bank transactions, navigate to the Taxes tab on your QBSE account and choose your tax year.
