Take note not to attempt to register for the trial. Doing so may result in being locked out of QuickBooks. Instead, save the trial install file in a location that is easily accessible. There is no need for any codes to open the trial.
Remember to relocate the backup company file from an external device such as a USB or a hosting service like Box to your local hard drive before proceeding with the following steps.
In QuickBooks, go to the File menu and select Open or Restore Company.
Click Restore a backup copy and then Next.
Choose Local Backup and then Next.
Browse your computer for your backup company file. It should look like this: [Your company name].qbb.
Select a folder to decide where to save your restored company file. Then select Open.
When you're ready, click Save. If you see any messages about possibly overwriting your data, select the option that best fits your needs. Don't overwrite anything unless you know you want to.
Please keep in mind the following information: If you open the backup within the same directory as your current company file, there is a risk of overwriting your data. To prevent accidental overwriting, you have the option to rename either the existing company file or the backup to ensure that their names are distinct. Another option is to store the backup in a completely different directory.
