I am in the process of changing banks. I still have significant funds that need to be moved from the old bank to the new bank account.

I've got some information that will help you record these transfers, rich80.

There are different ways how we can record a transfer between two accounts. Here are the following:

  • Transfer
  • Check
  • Imported Bank Transaction
  • Journal Entry

In your case, if you're trying to record the transaction from your Capital one to our Chase Account, we can create it as a Transfer and the check number using the Check window if you used a physical check to transfer funds. Here's how:

  1. Go to + New and then select Check
  2. Enter the check as you normally would, including the check number.
  3. From the Bank Account field, select the Capital one account.
  4. From the Category column, select the Chase account.
  5. Select Save and new or save and close to record the check.

For more insights about the transfer process, let's check out the following article. It contains detailed instructions on how to move funds from one account to another: Transfer funds between accounts.

For future reference, we can match any records you've already entered in QuickBooks Online. Please read this article for more information: Categorize And Match Online Bank Transactions In QuickBooks Online.

Get back to me here if you have further questions about the information above. I'd be more than happy to answer it for you.
