iif files and where to find them after import

I'd be happy to share information to help clear some confusion about IIF files, @CritterGetter. 

To help you locate your imported IIF Files, if you import lists according to the Chart of Accounts, Customers, or Vendors, you'll want to check them to their respective lists tabs. These are the Charts of Accounts, Customer Lists, or Vendor Lists. Or by pulling up reports. It could be a Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet report. Doing so will make it easier for you to track them.

For further information, If you use QuickBooks 2019, please see Improved IIF Import in QuickBooks 2019. Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) files are cross-platform text files that can help you manage your QuickBooks Desktop company data more effectively.

In general, you can export/import:

• Lists can be exported from one QuickBooks company file and imported into another.
• Import lists or transactions from another program into QuickBooks.
• Import and export data from QuickBooks Pro Timer.
• Transfer data between QuickBooks editions and platforms (such as Pro, Premier, and Enterprise, or between Windows and Mac)
