I'm happy to provide details about how you can run a report in a currency.
You can pull up the Transactions Detail by Account report, then enable the Currency column. We're unable to filter it to remove the transactions that are using the home currency.
Though, we can use the Customers filter and remove those customers with the home currency. If you'd like to include your vendors, you can also use the Vendors filter.
I'll elaborate the steps below:
Go to Reports, then search for Transactions Detail by Account in the Search box. Click the result.
Click the Customize button.
Expand the Rows/Columns section, then click the Change columns link.
Check Currency.
Go to the Filters section.
Check either the Vendors or Customers (you can do both). Then, select the profiles you want to show the report (that aren't using the home currency).
Once done, click Run report.
This isn't limited to the Transactions Detail by Account report. You can pull up something similar like the Transaction List by Customer or Vendor.
You'll also want to memorize this report if you want to run the same settings in the future. Check this article for a guide: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.
Do you have other reports you need to run? Let me know the data you want to show and I'll help in anyway I can. If you also have other concerns, let's hear them out.
Thanks Jamespaul. That's kind of helpful. My use case is that I have a parent company in the US with two subsidiaries in other countries with their own local currency. I'm using location to indicate in which subsidiary the transaction took place. I need to run sales reports, and financial statements in the local currency. In the Sales by Product/Service Detail report for example, I can add the currency column which tells me the currency the sales took place in, but the Amount is still showing in the home currency.
For something like the P&L, I can filter the report by location, but there is no option to run it in any currency but the home currency.
Would be great to know how I might handle this or is it best to have 3 separate QB accounts? In yes, how do I handle consolidation?
The Transactions Detail by Account report will show all the transactions with currency. If it's not showing on your side, you'll want to review the transactions to make sure it has the correct currency used. To do this, run the report again using the steps previously shared above and manually clicking the amount of each transaction.
If it's using an incorrect currency, change it from there. This is how your report will look like when currencies are shown.
I have some additional articles about managing a wide range of reports in QBO:
I'd love to help you achieve your goal, but would you mind telling me more about it? Like, for what transaction is your pay liability check for? Additional information is much appreciated.
I'd appreciate any details you can provide. I’m looking forward to your reply. Have a great rest of the day.
I have multi currencies on but when running reports I do not have an option in the customization drop down to select currency. How would I be able to change my report into the currency I want to view it in?
