A business bank account fails to sync in QuickBooks Online are unverified Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) prompts from your bank, temporary bank server maintenance, or outdated login credentials. To resolve this, manually update your bank connection in QuickBooks to trigger any pending security prompts or re-enter your updated banking credentials.
To start, here's how:
Go to Accounting and select Bank transactions.
Select the bank account card that is failing to sync.
Click the Update button at the top right of the screen to refresh the connection. If prompted, re-enter your online banking login credentials or complete the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) code sent by your bank."
If re-authentication fails, manually download a CSV, QBO, or OFX file from your bank's website and upload it directly into QuickBooks Online. This lets you continue categorizing transactions and reconciling accounts while the connection recovers.
