Almost a month with a single account stuck is a long time to wait it out. Since it's affecting some accounts and not others, this points to something specific to that particular connection rather than a broader PNC or QuickBooks outage.
Before you disconnect the affected account
A few quick checks first make it easier to reconnect cleanly afterward:
- Add or match every transaction sitting in the Pending tab for that account. Disconnecting removes anything still pending, and not every bank resends it later.
- Make sure the account balance is $0 before disconnecting, or QuickBooks will post an adjusting entry to balance it out.
- Note down the account's opening balance from the reconciliation screen, since reconnecting sometimes creates a new account rather than restoring the old one.
If the error message itself is telling you to disconnect and reconnect, that's a documented, expected part of resolving it, so it's fine to go ahead.
Disconnect and reconnect the affected account
- Go to Accounting, then Bank transactions.
- Select the tile for the affected account, select the pencil icon, then select Disconnect account.
- Select Disconnect to confirm.
- Reconnect it using Connect account or Link account, making sure to select the correct date range so you don't end up with duplicate transactions once it's downloading again.
Bridge the gap in the meantime
While that connection is being restored, you can bring your transactions in manually:
- Go to Accounting, then Bank transactions.
- Select the Link account dropdown, then Upload from file, and follow the prompts to upload a file downloaded from your bank.
If it's still not resolving after that
Since the rest of your PNC accounts are working normally, this is a good case to bring to support directly, since they can look at what's different about this specific connection rather than a general fix meant for all PNC accounts.
