QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2024 crashes on QBO import from Bank Of America because BofA changed FID ≠ BID in the QBO file

BofA changed their downloaded QBO file headers in early 2026.  You can open the files in Notepad and find the change.  Previously working files had the same FID and BID:  11162.  Newer, broken files have FID 11162 and BID 6526.

  • Desktop Premier 2024

  • Bank of America

  • Working historical files: FID=11162, BID=11162

  • Broken new files: FID=11162, BID=6526

  • Crash occurs during “Updating branding files”

  • Workaround: open file in notepad and manually change INTU.BID to match FID of 11162. Save file and then import in QuickBooks

  • Alternate Workaround: disable bank feeds, then Change BID in the qbo file  to 3000 (Wells Fargo).  Then import.  QB will identify the source as wells fargo, but it will still import fine.  All the transactions still work.

Probably the ultimate fix here is for QB to update their bank definition files to include the new BofA BID 6526
