When transactions stop showing up even though your bank connection looks fine, they are almost always still in QuickBooks, just sitting in a tab you haven't checked yet or waiting on a manual update. Start by refreshing the feed and checking the review tabs before you disconnect anything, because disconnecting and reconnecting is what usually creates duplicate accounts or transactions.
Step 1: Refresh the bank feed
QuickBooks usually pulls new data about once a day, and it only downloads transactions once they have posted at your bank. A manual update grabs the latest activity right away.
- Go to All apps, then Accounting, then Bank transactions.
- Select Update.
- If prompted, enter your multi-factor authentication details and select Continue update.
Step 2: Check the three review tabs
Downloaded transactions don't appear in your books until they are categorized, so a missing transaction is often just waiting in one of these tabs.
- On the Bank transactions page, select the tile for the account.
- Check the For review tab. Newly downloaded transactions land here. Categorize any you find so they post to your books.
- Check the Categorized tab. Review the Added or Matched column to see where each one went. If something is in the wrong account, unmatch and move it.
- Check the Excluded tab. Anything marked personal or duplicate sits here and won't post. To bring one back, select Undo in the Action column, then categorize it from the For review tab.

Step 3: If they still aren't there, upload them manually
If a manual update still doesn't bring the transactions in, you can add them from a file your bank provides so your records stay complete while you sort out the connection.
- Sign in to your bank's website and download the transactions as a CSV, QBO, or QFX file.
- In QuickBooks, go to All apps, then Accounting, then Bank transactions.
- Select the account tile, choose the Link account dropdown, then select Upload from file and follow the prompts.
Full steps: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
Cleaning up a duplicate account
If you reconnected your account and you now have a second account holding the new transactions, but not the historical data, the fix is to disconnect the newer duplicate, then merge it into your original account so your history stays intact. Accounts that are still connected to online banking can't be merged, which is why disconnecting comes first.
- Save your reconciliation reports first, since the account being merged loses its reconciliation history.
- Go to All apps, then Accounting, then Bank transactions, and select the edit (pencil) icon on the duplicate account's tile.
- Make sure both accounts have the exact same name, account type, and detail type (edit the duplicate to match the original) and click Save.
- When prompted, merge the duplicate into the account you want to keep, then reconnect that account.
Heads up: Merging is permanent, and if both accounts have an opening balance entry you'll want to delete the newer one first to avoid doubling your balance. Full steps and cautions: Merge duplicate accounts in QuickBooks Online.
If transactions won't show past page one, or nothing above works
A tab that keeps showing page one can be a temporary hiccup. Try a manual update again, and check the Bank Feed status for a known issue. If it persists, or if transactions are still missing after all of the above, contact support so they can investigate the connection directly: go to Help, select Contact Us, describe the issue, and choose to chat or request a call.
Let us know which step got things moving, or reply with your bank's name if you're still stuck and we'll dig in from there.
