If a bank rule categorizes transactions correctly but Auto-add isn't confirming them automatically, this is usually either a browser issue or a specific rule setup that blocks Auto-add.
Rule out a browser issue first
- Open QuickBooks Online in a private or incognito window (Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome, Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox, Control+Option+P in Safari).
- Try the rule again there. If Auto-add works in the private window, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache and cookies.
- If it's still not working, try a different supported browser, and make sure you're testing in a browser rather than the mobile app, since app behavior can differ.
Check whether your rule uses a split with a set Payee
If Auto-add still doesn't apply after ruling out browser issues, check whether the affected rule splits the transaction into multiple lines and also sets a specific Payee. This combination has been reported to prevent Auto-add from confirming the transaction, even when the categorization itself is correct. If this matches your rule, try removing the Payee field from that rule.
