Error 102 means there's a connection issue on your bank's end, like a server problem or website maintenance. It usually clears up within 24 to 48 hours, but here's how to check and speed things along.

  1. Refresh the connection. Select the profile gear icon, then Bank accounts, then select Refresh all.
  2. Check your bank's website. Sign in and look for any alerts, notifications, or maintenance messages. Review your account history and recent transactions too. If you can't see these, that points to a connection issue on the bank's side rather than something in QuickBooks.
  3. Try again after 48 hours. If everything looks normal on your bank's website but the error's still showing, wait for the full 48-hour window and refresh again. The fact that a friend can connect to the same bank doesn't rule out error 102. Connections are tied to individual accounts and credentials, so one account can have an issue while another works fine.

If the error's still there after 48 hours, reach out to QuickBooks Self-Employed support so they can dig into your account directly.

While you wait, you don't have to leave your books sitting idle. You can manually add your bank transactions so your records stay current, then match and categorize them once the connection is back and QuickBooks pulls in the rest.

Hello, lilymorgan-bloom.

I understand how important this feature is to your business. Let me help you in getting that up and running.

Bank error 102 typically indicates that your bank's website is experiencing technical difficulties, is undergoing maintenance, or there's a server issue interfering with data transfer between the bank's website or the reporting agency and QuickBooks Online.

Let's do some troubleshooting steps to get this bank connection to work for you.

Step 1: Manually update the online connection.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Select the profile ⚙ icon and then Bank accounts.
  3. Click Refresh all.

Step 2: Check the websites of your bank and credit card to ensure that everything is in working order on their end.

  • Sign in to your bank or credit card's website. If you can't sign in, reach out to your bank or credit card company about the next steps.
  • Look for any messages, notifications, or alerts. It should tell you if something isn't working.
  • Review your account pages, account history, and transactions. If you can't see these, there may be connection issues.

If everything appears in order on your bank or credit card website, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Self-Employed Support. They can access your account and submit a ticket for further investigation.

Alternatively, you can manually enter or import bank transactions into your QuickBooks Self-Employed account. Check out this article for a complete guide: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Once done, review your transactions and categorize them to put them on the correct line of your Schedule C report. Refer to this resource for more insights: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

If you need further assistance with bank feeds, please let me know. I'll get back as soon as possible to help you.
