Why won't my QuickBooks Self-Employed bank connection reconnect after several days, even though my bank's website looks fine?

I checked the bank website and everything looks good on that end.

Checking your bank's website was the right first move, and it's frustrating when that comes back clean but the connection still won't work. Error 102 means QuickBooks can't connect to your bank at that moment. If there's an issue on your bank's end, it can take 24 hours or more to clear, so several days without it resolving is longer than that typical window.

Try a manual refresh

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Select the profile icon, then Bank accounts.
  3. Select Refresh All.

If the error still shows up, try signing in through an incognito or private browser window and refreshing again, to rule out anything cached in your browser.

If it's still not clearing after several days

Since your bank's own site isn't showing any issues and it's already gone past the usual 24-hour window, this is a reasonable point to check in with support directly so they can look at the specific connection rather than continuing to wait it out.

I understand the importance of having your bank account connected, Tippy23. Let me assist you in resolving this issue and get you back on track.

Bank error 102 means there may be a problem on your bank's end, which can stop the online bank connection to QuickBooks. Error 102 usually resolves within 24 hours, but there are a few things we can check to resolve this.

For instance, we can manually update your bank connection. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Select the profile ⚙ icon and then Bank accounts.
  3. Select Refresh All.

If the error still occurs after doing this, we can perform basic troubleshooting on your account to check why this is happening. First, let's review if this is a browser-related issue. Let's start by opening your account in a private browser as it ignores historical data. These are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If the error is fixed after this, then the issue is likely caused by your browser. You'll want to clear your regular browser cache. Another option is to use other supported browsers.

I'll include this helpful resource that contains additional information on bank error 102. Feel free to check it out: Fix bank errors 102 and 105 in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed.

@Tippy23

Try opening your QBSE account on any private/incognito browser.
