Yes, Rick, the transactions only update for that session because they require a manual update each time. I recommend checking your bank’s website for error messages or notifications that could explain the concern.

Before we proceed, have you experienced any specific errors when updating your bank transactions?

Here's how to check your bank account or credit card's website:

  1. Open your QuickBooks account and go to Bank transactions
  2. Select Link Account to find your bank.
  3. Select your bank from the list and copy the provided URL.
  4. Log in to your bank or credit card's website using the copied URL.

If you've changed your account number, username, or password on your bank's website, update this information in QuickBooks. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Transactions and choose the Bank you want to update.
  2. Click on the pencil icon next to your bank account.
  3. Edit account details and update your info as needed.
  4. Then, click Save.

Additionally, automatic bank updates in QuickBooks Online start around 10 PM PT. If the server can’t update an account, it retries up to five times over the next five hours. For additional guidance, refer to this article: Troubleshoot unknown bank and transaction errors.

If you still have additional concerns, please share them with us.

I understand how inconvenient it can be to repeatedly update the Bank transactions page to bring in new ones, Rick. You're correct that manually refreshing or updating the Bank transactions page will only resolve the issue for the current session.

To address this problem more permanently, we can follow several steps to fix the updating issue on your Bank Transactions page:

  1. Ensure your bank's connection status is green.
  2. Verify that your bank still supports the connection.
  3. Refresh your bank feed.
  4. Check your bank account or credit card website for any notifications that require your attention.
  5. Update your bank information on the Bank transactions page.

You can see the detailed instructions per step in this article under the Transactions not updating section: Troubleshoot Unknown Bank and Transaction Errors.

While waiting for the troubleshooting steps to take effect, could you share the name of your financial institution and any bank error code or message you encountered on the Bank transactions page? It will help us determine the best action to resolve the issue.
