Question

Can I change the name of a receipt that is already uploaded to QBO? I often get this error "The uploaded filename or file extension is invalid."

Hi there, Colleen. I appreciate you reaching out here in the Community.

Currently, the option to rename receipts that have already been uploaded into QuickBooks Online isn’t available. However, the error you received is possibly related to the receipt file format during the upload process.

To ensure the receipt uploads successfully, make sure the file format is one of the following: JPG, JPEG, PNG, or PDF. Once you’ve saved the receipt using the correct format, you can reupload it to your QBO account.

If you continue to experience the same error, I suggest logging out of your QBO account and logging back in. This refreshes the system and can help resolve minor display or functionality issues.

Additionally, you can try accessing your account through a private browser or incognito tab, which bypasses cached data that may be interfering. Simply open an incognito window and go to https://quickbooks.intuit.com/ca/ to log in and test if you can send invoices from there.
