Hi, there used to be two colors for account suggestions — green and black (for used and unused accounts) what 's happened they all are blue now

Hi everyone, Has anyone noticed that the bank feed account suggestions in QBO have recently changed? Previously, there used to be two colors for account suggestions — green (indicating the account had been used before for similar transactions) and black (for new or unused accounts). Now, after the recent update, all account suggestions appear in blue, regardless of whether they’ve been used previously or not. This change makes it really hard to identify which account was previously used for similar transactions. We now have to go back and double-check the transaction history manually, which is quite time-consuming. Is there any way to restore the old color distinction or an alternative method to quickly identify previously used accounts in bank feeds? Thanks in advance for any insights or workarounds! — Raees

The change where all suggestions now appear in a uniform blue or similar color is part of recent UI/UX updates that Intuit is rolling out across QuickBooks Online. Unfortunately, based on the recent updates and community discussions, there is currently no built-in setting or option to restore the old color distinction for the account suggestions in the bank feed. Let me provide you with workarounds to achieve your goal and easily categorize your transactions in QuickBooks Online.

 

Since the direct visual cue is gone, here are a few methods to help you quickly identify previously used accounts and maintain efficiency:

 

1. Focus on the "Posted" Status (QBO's new primary indicator). Instead of the color in the suggestion field, QBO now emphasizes the status of the transaction in the bank feed list:

 

  • In the Posted tab: These transactions are already recognized by QuickBooks, typically based on previous history (as indicated by the old green color) or an existing transaction in your books.
  • In the Pending tab: (There is a Match or Categorize button). These are typically new transactions or ones where QuickBooks is less confident, and they require your manual review (the old black color's function).
  • Under the Action column of the Pending tab: If the name and category look right, you can confidently Post them.

 

2. Utilize Bank Rules for Automation

 

For repetitive transactions with the same vendor:

 

  • Create a Rule: If you see a transaction with a category you know is correct, click on the transaction, then look for the "Create rule" option.
  • Auto-Add (Use with Caution): You can set a rule to "Automatically confirm transactions this rule applies to." This bypasses the review step entirely for those specific transactions, acting as a highly efficient green light.
