Question

Can I back date the hire date for a new employee? I keep getting an “invalid hire date” message, no matter what date I enter.

I'm here to ensure you can enter a hir date for your employee, lwilcox.

To start, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times when the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. Let's start accessing your account using a private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Microsoft Edge & Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Control Option P

Once you have successfully added a hire date, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Alternatively, you can use other compatible browsers to isolate the issue further.

I've also attached some articles you can refer to for your future guidance and detailed steps in managing your employee profile and transactions:

Thanks for joining this thread, LDelgado.

I want to make sure you're able to add a new employee in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Just to rule out any browser related issues, were you able to try the steps to clear the cache listed above? If not, please give that a try and then attempt to add the employee once more.

Please feel free to follow up with me here if you need additional assistance. I'll be here to lend a hand.
