QuickBooks Self-Employed and QuickBooks Online are designed for different purposes, so the data doesn't transfer automatically. However, you can export and save your key financial data, such as transactions, profit and loss reports, mileage logs, and receipts, from QuickBooks Self-Employed. Once you’ve saved these records, you can upload them into QuickBooks Online to continue managing your finances smoothly.

 

Before starting the transfer, it’s helpful to decide which types of data you want to move over. This will not only save you time but also help avoid duplicate transactions when you connect your bank or credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online using the Online Banking feature.

 

To get started, I recommend downloading all your key reports and data from QuickBooks Self-Employed. This serves as an extra backup for safekeeping, regardless of how your transition goes.
