Yes, I can assist you with setting up and managing paid leave policies in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @office340, ensuring they comply with Michigan's laws.

Michigan's Paid Medical Leave Act (PMLA) requires employers with 50 or more employees to offer eligible staff (working 25+ hours per week) up to 40 hours of paid leave each year. Employees accrue leave at a rate of 1 hour for every 35 hours worked. Employers have the flexibility to decide if unused hours roll over to the following year or reset annually. For more information, refer to this article: Details about Michigan's new Earned Sick Time Act.

To set up your Paid Time Off (PTO) in QBO, here's how:

  1. Navigate to the My apps menu.

  2. Under the Payroll tab, select Employees.

  3. Choose the employee you'd like to assign PTO to.

  4. Scroll down to the Time off section and click Start or Edit.

  5. In the Edit time off window, select Add new vacation policy from the dropdown menu to add a policy for:

    • Vacation Pay

    • Paid time off

    • Sick Pay

    • Unpaid time off

  6. Set PTO details.

  7. When finished, select Save.

The policy you created will be available to all of your employees. Select this policy for your other employees, or create a new policy for them.
