Right now, the ability to generate donation letters is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). As a workaround, you can create a transaction statement or pulling up the Sales by Donor Detail report to get the details you need per donor.
Here's how to create a statement:
Click + New from the left menu.
Select Statement under Other.
Choose Transaction Statement as the Statement Type.
Set your desired period and choose the recipients.
Select Print or Preview at the bottom or select Save and close when you're done.
To create the Sales by Donor Detail report, refer to the steps below:
Click Reports on the left panel.
Type Sales by Customer Detail on the search box.
Click the Customize button in the upper right-hand corner.
Maximize the Rows/Columns section, and then click the Change columns link.
Check the box for Donors.
Click Run report.
If this doesn't work for you, I'd suggest visiting our App Center. There are donation apps that can integrate with QBO and can sync with your financial data. This way, it'll be easier to gather everything you need to issue the donor letters.

I am trying to run statements as noted above to use for donor letters. However, my system is telling me that only 6 of my 75 donors have statements. I don't understand why??
Thanks for joining the thread and providing information about your concern, bg73.
Let me share information with you about creating donor statements. There are things that you need to consider when creating. These are the following:
For Balance Forward and Transaction statement types, ensure that the Start Date and End Date chosen coincides with the corresponding Invoice/Pledge dates.
The customer needs to have at least 1 Open/Overdue Pledge/Invoice so that the system could generate a statement.
For Balance Forward statement type, check if the Donor/Customer Balance Status matches the Status of the Pledge/Invoice, i.e. Open/Overdue/All.
If a donor does not have an email address within the Donor Information setting, they will appear under the Missing email address tab.
Though you can create reports for managements purposes, QuickBooks won't create proper donor statements with the required text and read to mail or email. Instead, use the BRC Donor Statements - QB Online , which will read your QB data (first exported from QB using reports) and create the statements without any additional data entry.
