Question

I have an employee that I am re-hiring from June of 2023. Do I need to gather her paperwork again, or can I just re-activate her in QBO?

Hi, @bonediggitybarke. It's great having you in the QuickBooks Community.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) retains the information of your inactive employee that you plan to rehire. For the rehiring process, you can reactivate her employee profile and update the hire date. I'd be glad to assist you through the process.

You can follow these steps to reactivate her employee profile:

  1. In your QBO account, go to Payroll.
  2. Select Employees.
  3. From the drop-down menu beside the Find an employee field, select All Employees
  4. Select the inactive employee.
  5. From the Actions drop-down menu, select Change status
  6. Choose Active from the Status list.
  7. Ensure to update the Hire date section to reflect the actual rehire date.

If you need to update other sections of your employee info, you can refer to this article: Edit or change employee info in payroll.

Let me also add this article as a reference in managing your payroll schedules in QBO: Set up and manage payroll schedules

We'll be here in the Community if you need further assistance updating your QBO payroll records for your rehired employee. We'll do our best to assist. Take care.
