Question

I hired somebody as a subcontractor paid hourly, How do i track his time and pay him from QB Desktop. I want it to import the same way as it does for the employee.

He is set up as a vendor. I want him to use the same service items as the other employees so i cannot set a rate for the service item? If set a payrate in quickbooks time, will that vendor pay import with the hours and the rate to QB Desktop? If not how can i set it up without manually adding the rate for each pay period.

Good afternoon, @peter140

Welcome to the Community! I'd be happy to provide you with some information.

In QuickBooks Desktop, you can track your subcontractor's time and pay them for the hours they worked using the Time Tracking features, similar to how you manage employee time. You'll need to set up your subcontractor as a Vendor and assign service items to their timesheets.

In addition, check out this guide about contractors and tracking them in QBDT
