Updating your payroll bank account can be done through the My Payroll Service section of your employee account.

Before making any changes, ensure that you have the following details ready. Your bank name, routing number, and account number; the Principal Officer's address; and your Payroll PIN are ready.

If you’re using QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Basic, Standard, or Enhanced:

  1. Go to the Employees menu at the top, select My Payroll Service, and then click Account/Billing Information.
  2. Sign in with your Intuit Account login details.
  3. Locate the Payroll Info section, find Direct Deposit Bank Account, and click Edit.
  4. Enter your payroll security PIN and click Continue.
  5. Input your new bank routing and account numbers, then click Update.

For QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Assisted:

  1. Select Employees, then My Payroll Service, then Billing/Bank Information to access the Payroll Service Account Maintenance pages.
  2. Under Bank Account Information, select Edit next to Bank Account.
  3. Enter your payroll PIN, then select Continue.
  4. Enter your new bank account info, then select Update. When you receive the confirmation message, select Close.

Please note that Intuit will send a small check deposit to verify this account within 1–2 business days. You will need to log back in to the same screen to verify the amount before your next payroll run.

After that, you can follow Step 6 to change your default bank account in Preferences in this article: Change your payroll bank account in QuickBooks.
