Question

I want to add a recipient 1099 who is under the $600 reporting threshold at their request. How can I add them to the reporting list in QBO?

I have a subcontractor who received $350 1099 NEC payment this past year. They would like a 1099 for their records, and I don't have a problem making one for them. I cannot figure out how to add them in QBO. They are checked for tracking for 1099, but are under the reporting limit. There is no button I can find to add them to the reportable payments list. How can I add them to the list for 1099 in QBO?

We appreciate your effort to include all recipients in 1099 reporting, @sarah212. However, a non-employee with payments below the $600 threshold cannot be added to the 1099 reportable payments list in QuickBooks Online.

Payments under the threshold do not need to be reported to the IRS, even if paid to a freelancer, independent contractor, or vendor. Therefore, filing a 1099 for non-employees with payments under $600 isn’t required, as these amounts aren’t reported on Form 1099.
