Thanks for reaching out to the Community, zjohanson.

If you're a new customer, you can purge data and start fresh with a new company if necessary. This will depend on your subscription level and whether you've been using QuickBooks for longer than 90 days.

Here's a few things you'll want to be aware of:

  • Make sure you're signed in as an admin.
  • Data imported from QuickBooks Time will also be purged during this process.
  • To keep your current lists after starting over, review our Moving your lists to a new company article.
  • This process only deletes data for one company. If you need to delete all or some of your Intuit data, find out more about managing data, or check our privacy center.

When you're ready to purge data, you can do so while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Before starting, be absolutely sure you want to delete everything.
  2. Sign in as an admin.
  3. Confirm you're on the company you want to purge.
  4. After signing in, go to this link. If necessary use this one instead.
  5. Enter Yes, then click OK.
  6. Choose your industry from the ▼ Drop-down list.
  7. Hit Create accounts based on my industry. This helps QuickBooks set up your chart of accounts after your data is wiped. Don't select Create an empty chart of accounts unless you've checked with your accountant first.
  8. Select Wipe data.

Once the process is finished, you can start your books from scratch.

If the company account has existed for 90 days or more, you can cancel your subscription and start a new company.

In the event you'd like to merge data, you can refer to our Merge companies, data files or copy lists article.

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
