When I run payroll, and the pay method is check, do I need to write the check personally, or does QB send the check? If so, do they mail me the check or the employee?

Once you choose the paper check method when running payroll, there's no need to write the check personally. QuickBooks will create the checks for you to print and hand them over to your employees. 

Let's turn off the direct deposit feature so you can run payroll using a paper checks. Below are the steps to complete the process.

1. Go to Payroll from the left menu.
2. Select the Employees tab.
3. Choose Run payroll.
4. Select the direct deposit icon at the right of the employee's name.
5. Select a Paper check.
6. Preview and submit the rest of your payroll as you normally would.
7. Finish the payroll and don't forget to print or write the paper check and give it to the employee.

Once done, you can print the checks and hand them over to your employees. I recommend using the Paycheck list report to easily print the paycheck. 

Here's how:

1. Click Reports at the left panel.
2. From the search icon at the left corner, type Paycheck History.
3. Click Export to Excel dropdown and then select print or save PDF.
4. Hit the print button.
